Tom Banks, also known as Woodentom, is a very skilled craftsman and teacher. We
are lucky to have him at our Festival. He'll be there on Friday 19th and
Saturday 20th. Why not book a class with him as a gift for that special someone
in your life? See the Festival programme for details of his class or Tom's own
website for information about his work at www.woodentom.com
I have carved wood for many years and for me it is a welcome escape from the stresses that we all know in modern life. Perhaps especially I love watching the process from start to finish of a piece of wood becoming ... whatever I wish it to be! It keeps me happy and I would like to share this gift with you.
I use predominantly hand tools for a variety of reasons:
★I find them therapeutic with no noise or dust as with electric tools; ★No need to be tied to an electrical source so you can work wherever you choose;★They are safer than power tools - when you stop moving so does the tool!; and also★You get a feel for the grain of the wood as you work.
