ARTS AND CRAFTS
LANDSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHY with Anke Addy for the beginner and intermediate. The class will last 3 hours in the glorious autumn colours surrounding Braemar. It will run on Thursday 18th from 10.00 until 1.00 or 2.00 until 5.00. You will need a camera, outdoor clothing, and a warm drink. £25
LANDSCAPE PAINTING with Colin Robertson: 3 hour sessions in landscape painting from photographs and an introduction to painting outdoors. Participants should bring their own materials, preferably acrylic paints.
Friday 19th or Saturday 20th 10.00 until 1.00 £12.50
PASTELS for ALL with Fiona Haldane: a full day class from 10.00 until 4.00 on Wednesday 17th or Thursday 18th. Enjoy the dramatic and subtle effects of working with pastels – a medium that both the beginner and professional can enjoy to create any topic and any style. £25.00
SILKSCREEN PRINTING with Andrew Braidwood: a one day workshop in silkscreen printing, on Thursday 18th or Friday 19th from 10.00 until 4.00. Cost includes all materials. £45.00
TRADITIONAL WOOD CARVING with Thomas Banks: Learn the traditional skill of wood carving under Tom’s expert tuition over Friday 19th and Saturday 20th. Day 1 –make a wooden bowl, and day 2 a spoon. It is possible to do either or both days. Cost per day, including materials is £45.00
WILLOW WEAVING with Helen Jackson: Weave a willow basket with Helen, on Saturday 20th from 10.00 until 4.30.
Cost, including materials, is £40.00
QUILTING FOR BEGINNERS with Lisa Winkleman: Learn quilting and make the beginnings of a quilt in one day on Wednesday 17th from 10.00 until 4.00.
Precut quilt kits can be supplied – top only is £20, top and bottom plus wadding is £40. Some sewing machines will be provided but feel free to bring your own. If you provide your own materials tuition is just £10.00

BOOKING YOUR PLACE
All classes must be booked and paid for in advance and no later than 15th October. Numbers are limited for each class and places will be allocated on a first come first served basis. For registration forms or to book email mjdante@hotmail.co.uk or call 013397 41225, or write to
Braemar Tourism Group, Dalmore House, Fife Brae, Braemar Aberdeenshire AB35 5NS. Registration forms can be sent by post or email. Once you have registered you will be invoiced for the cost of your class and payment may be made by cheque, or bank transfer.
MUSIC
COST: £10 per session or any two music sessions on any instrument for £15.
Step Dance £3 per session. Minimum age for all classes: upper primary, no upper age limit!!
TIN WHISTLE with Naomi Harvey of Lurach
Beginners half day (am) Friday Oct 19th & Saturday Oct 20th (am). Two half day sessions, a real chance to get to grips with this instrument! Beginners are recommended to purchase their own ‘D’ whistle in advance (cost c £6) or these can be bought on your behalf (please ask).
Intermediate Friday Oct 19th half day (pm). Improve your skills. Opportunity on Saturday 20th to take your whistle to the group instrument session,(half day pm).
STEP DANCE with Naomi Harvey of Lurach
All standards. Friday Oct 19th 12.30–1.30 pm and Sat Oct 20th 1.00 – 2.00.
Any sturdy footwear suitable (but NOT dancing pumps). Timing will fit around other half day music sessions – so you can sign up for music AND dance!
VOICE with Shona Donaldson
All standards welcome. Thursday 18th or Friday 19th half day (pm). Possibility of performance at Festival Concert on Friday night, or Lurach session on Saturday night.
CHANTER with Diane Wright
Thursday 19th half day (pm). A limited number of chanters are available on loan for total beginners. Please ask.
FIDDLE
Intermediate Thursday18th and Friday Oct 19th half day (pm) with Paul Anderson
Beginners Sat Oct 20th half day (am) with Lucy Macrae of Lurach. It may be possible to provide instruments – please ask.
GROUP WORK led by Will Lamb of Lurach
Saturday 20th Half day (pm) Opportunity to bring along your instrument (whistle, guitar, fiddle, bodhran etc) and take part in a joint ‘traditional music’ session. Not suitable for total beginners. Possibility of later performance at the Saturday night Lurach session!

LITERATURE
CREATIVE WRITING- Telling the story with Rachel Marsh
This class will discuss how mixing imaginative concepts with well developed characters, carefully considered language and a structured plot can bring your story from idea to completion. Open to writers of all levels, work towards individual goals while interacting in a workshop environment.
This is a 2 day course running on Wednesday 17th, Thursday 18th Cost for the course £50.00
STORYTELLING WORKSHOPS with Anna Fancett
Anna is offering a two hour workshop in oral storytelling for adults on Friday 19th from 10.00 until 12.00.
Cost £10.00
In the afternoon on Friday Anna will be telling stories for children aged 4 – 7 from 2.00 until 2.45 and for 8 years old and upwards from 3.00 until 3.45. (No need to book) Entry £1.00

In conjunction with the Creative Arts Festival, Walk Deeside is offering a two day out doors workshop designed to instill confidence, independence and improved technical ability in a variety of conditions. Walk Deeside is a National Navigation Award Scheme supplier of navigation courses.
